The Ted Baker Dress

Every once in a while, you find something special. An article of clothing so magnificent that you can't bare to put it in your wardrobe and so lovely that every time you walk by you cant help but trace your fingers over the fabric.

Last month whilst we were shopping in Liverpool, Zoe and I spotted the new Ted Baker line and almost physically swooned.

Rather insanely, Zoe bought me one of the (crazy expensive!) dresses as my early birthday present. She is far, far too good. It was a little snug when I tried it on so it's a huge motivation to loose half a stone so I can look b-e-a-utiful in it. I think if I'd have bought it myself I wouldn't have felt so obliged but since someone else spent their pennies on me, it's a lot easier to choose soup over pizza! 

My aim is to wear this dress for our meet-up at PlayList Live in Florida, which is about 2 weeks away, so hopefully I will have a successful OOTD for you by then. 

Until then, I hope you enjoyed the sneak peaks. If you are tempted by this dress (and who wouldn't be?), mine was bought from John Lewis but weirdly, they don't seem to have it on their site. You can however buy it HERE, directly from Ted Baker. The sunglasses seemed to fit well with the 50's style dress and were bought from River Island a little while a go.

River Island A/W Collection 2012

If you read/watch my OOTD's and hauls, you will know I am a big of a fan of River Island. I love that their clothes always fit nicely and swoon over the large handbags. Why oh why I didn't buy the mint green satchel bag in March I do not know....it still haunts me ahahaha.

When the lovely PR lady that works for them contacted me and asked if I would like to share a short video about what's coming up for the Autumn season (my all time favourite time of year), I said yes, yes, yes!

I was provided with some information about the new range too but knowing I would never be able to express it as well as this, I have quoted it below for you. Hurrah!

Online Treats

Remember that spending ban I was on? No? Nor do I.

I'm not usually one for internet shopping. I prefer to actually have the experience of being in the store, touching the products, mooching around etc, but a couple of weeks ago (before my busy stint), I ran away with myself...and my debit card. Woops.

I've made a video of the haul which I will link as soon as it's live, but for now, here's a little teaser.

This nifty storage case is actually a shoe organiser but I have used it as a toy tidy. I love that I can see what's where and it's safe for Baby Glitter to drag about. It was only £3.99 and there is a buy 2 get 1 free offer, so if you have a lot of shoes/toys/anything at all you want to store away, it's a winner! You can find it HERE.

 

I plan on doing a few OOTD's with these ASOS pieces. I have worn the white eyelet skirt and pink highwaisted SO much since buying them so in my eyes, they're an investment!

I also bought some Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Cleansers because I had run out, tried to kid myself that other products were as good and then came to my senses and reordered. 

I talked about the bunting bracelet in a post of it's own HERE, but in a nutshell, it's the cutest little thing and was only £2.39. Click on the pink for the link! (So poetic. Tehe).

The word art was sent to me from the tres creative Maisy Moo. All you do is choose your shape and colour scheme, give them the words you would like incorporated and wait for it to land on your doorstep- fabulous!! We love ours and think it adds a great little touch to Baby Glitter's bedroom.

Ok, I know, they're just straws. But loooookkk!! They are paper (don't worry, they don't go squooshy in your drink), pastel coloured and if you have an obsession with pinterest or American lifestyle blogs (Carosello, A Beautiful Mess etc) then you will understand why I needed them in my life. I bought them from THIS British seller. I also gave them a sneaky little feature in THIS post.

Well, that's it. A bit of an eclectic haul and as soon as the video is live, I will embed it on this blog post too. Keeping things nice and tidy :)

Fox Bags- Feeling Foxy?

Yeeaahhh, my title was a bit lame, but I couldn't resist! Haha.

A little while ago, whilst on the hunt for more woodland creature things (I have a bit of an obsession with birds, rabbits, deer and now foxes), I stumbled across the funnest, coolest, cutest little handbags you ever did see. FOX BAGS!

(Excuse the stock photos -although I did put them into a collage for you myself haha-, they are from the ebay shop I bought my bags from. I have a video review of the bags coming soony soon!)

THESE sweet little animal bags were a snip at £11.81 (inc. P&P) and so I went a bit gaga and bought 4! I bought 2 of the orangey ones as birthday gifts and kept the brown and pink one for myself! I actually half wish I had ordered a black one too, but thought that would be excessive!

The come with a detachable handle so you can wear it as an over the shoulder satchel style bag, or as a kwirky clutch. They're not real leather, but feel very soft and have a slight texture to them, and for £11.81 all in, I can cope.

You can fit a surprising amount in them and they hold their shape nicely too.

In a nutshell, I love them! They are right up my alley in terms of girly and fun-ness, and thought you would all love them as much as me! To be clear, I haven't been sent these for free or anything of that ilk, I'm just a very happy customer who wanted to share the love.

Skinny Jeans, Fatty Girl

I am fat. Those three words aren't meant to self depreciate myself or encourage you all to shout, "Nooo! You're lovely!" from the hilltops, they are a mere fact. I'm not big boned and I don't have a thyroid problem, I eat too much yummy food like cheesey pasta and cadbury twirls and I don't do enough exercise. Naughty me. *Slaps wrist*. 

Now I'm not saying that being fat is good. Nor am I saying it's bad. It's a personal issue. Ideally I'd be slimmer because of the health implications, but right now, I'm not.

With all that being said, just because I'm a bit tubby at the moment, doesn't mean I'm prepared to wear hideous tent like tops and clown pant style trousers. Oh no. Granted, sequined hot pants a la Pixie Lott aren't going to do my any favours, but if you know how to work an item, there is a lot more available to you than you might think. 

Skinny jeans have always been a scary no-go item for me. I thought I must always stick to bootcut jeans to balance out my wide thighs and stick to a 'normal denim' colour so as not to draw attention to my wobbly bits. OR wear leggings with tunic tops, dresses or long cardis. Well, hang on a second, leggings cling to legs and leggings show wobbly bits.....sooooo what's the difference? Surely skinny jeans are just leggings with a zip and button?? Now I love an elasticated waist as much as the next person (especially since having Baby Glitter), but I can go wild and fore go it for a day or so!

In a flurry of fat-thighed liberation last week, I bought my first ever pair of skinny jeans...in colour!! I picked up a beautiful pair of dark teal skinny jeans from New Look for the grand total of £19.99. You can find them HERE. They were from the Inspire range so are a size 18 and up and come in three colours- Teal (or 'Petrol Blue' according to the site, Camel and Deep Red. I think I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a pair in black too! Oohh!!

As you will see from about, I lost my marbles and made a video of me modelling said skinnies, in the alley behind my house. Lucky Doug nearly got quite an eyeful during one of my numerous 'wardrobe changes'. Ahahahaa!!

What do you think? Should larger ladies stick to bootcuts and flares? Or can us fatties do skinnies?

A Royal Love Story

Wowie!! Today's Royal Wedding was an international celebration not to be missed.

I celebrated with Matt, Baby Glitter (who snoozed through the entire fairytale), Auntie Jackie and my cousin Joseph. We had royal wedding cake (or Victoria sponge with a gimmicky picture of Wills and Kate on), champagne, balloons, bunting and to top it all off, Jackie and I wore our wedding dresses! Hahahahahahaha!

I'm sure you will see a million images of the day but my blog would be missing out if I didn't pinch some off weheartit.com.

Kate's ivory gown with lace applique was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexandra McQueen and was inspired by an opening flower. I think she looked unbelievable. Every bit as graceful and elegant as you would expect a Princess to look.

On the other hand, Princess Beatrice and Eugine chose some very interesting outfits indeed. Good grief.

Oof, I bet that was a nervous moment for Prince William. Did you notice how Wills didn't look round as Kate walked up the aisle? That's meant to be good luck donthcya know. Prince Harry had a cheeky look though. Mmmmmm Prince Harry *drools*.

And then they were Husband and Wife. I just think the whole shibang, dress, suit, carriage, everything, looks spectacular!

All good fairy tales end with a kiss.

I really do wish them health, wealth (think they're OK on that front) and happiness.

Lust List

Just doing a bit of fantasy shopping (you know, where you just imaginary buy everything you fancy, even if your overdraft is in dyer straights like mine!) and thought I'd share a few pieces with you. Does anyone have a few hundred pounds they want to buy me a new Spring/Summer wardrobe with?

Pink Print Crochet Kimono. £39.99. River Island.

Navy Peeptoe Platform Shoes (which I would actually break my neck in no doubt, not to mention look like a giant seeing as I'm 5"7 already, but such is the joy of fantasy shopping!). £69.99. River Island.


Mint Green (although looks blue to me!) Fringe Kaftan. £26.99. River Island.
I think this would look nice with jeans or leggings but always feel a bit annoyed that most kaftans are see-through. Grrr just cos you're on holiday, doesn't always mean you want to be nakey!



Navy Heart Print Skirt. £24.99. River Island.
I like the pockets on this. This would be lovely for meandering around in the evenings with a glass of Rose. Oh how I miss Rose!



Gold Leaf Chandelier Earrings. £9.99. River Island.

These remind me of fire flies and look really jazzy but I would still wear them during the day :)

I could easily buy up half the accessories in River Island, but wont bore you with my wish list on them. When I was a PA, my office was 3 seconds away from a really nice River Island so I have a lot of love for it as it was often my lunchtime reprieve, where I'd unwind, float about feeling the fabrics and buy myself a little treat.

As much as I can't wait to have Baby Glitter and am more than happy with the compromise of less money/new baby, I am looking forward to a time when I can splurge a bit and buy pretties more regularly.

What sort of things to do you splurge on? Would you rather spend £70 on one big thing or lots of little things?

Am I a Fashionista Yet?

As a curvier girl (and now a about-to-pop-out-a-baby-any-day-girl), I find it quite tricky to follow the latest trends in fashion. High waisted shorts would not flatter my wide hips, crop tops would offend the eyes of passers by and playsuits would make me look like a fabric sausage.

Baring these facts in mind, I have developed my own style that suits my figure and feel quite good about this. I wear clothes that fit and flatter and leave the rest for the day when I wake up a size 8.

However, since being pregnant, I have kind of fallen into a bit of a 'maternity rut' and it's only in the last few weeks that I've thought "Hmmm, perhaps I won't live in pregnancy jeans and maternity tops forever" and started to have a re think. Being a Mummy will be a whole new ball game and I think with it, will come a change of image. I'm having my hair cut shorter and choppy and coloured darker today and when Baby Glitter is out (we had a false alarm and thought it was going to be last night actually, but alas, it wasn't), I am going to make an effort to be a bit more fashionable.

I have been seeing scarves everywhere lately. Vintage silk ones, little cotton ones, huge pashmina ones, the lot, and decided this was an easy and 'fat-friendly' (it's not a playsuit after all!) fashion I could try. I bought this little cotton scarf last week from H&M for £4.99 which isn't a bank buster at all. It was actually in the children's section, but this doesn't bother me! So far I have only worn it with jeans and a black top because it's tres bright, but I like it.

So that was my first little step into being a bit braver with what I wear and venturing out of my comfort zone, still a long way to go I know, but it's baby steps.
